BIS Resumption date for the 2014-2015 Academic Year

Dear Parents and Students,
No doubt you have heard by now but I am writing to confirm that school will open on Monday 22nd September 2014 at 8:00 am. In the meantime all BIS students are required to complete the work that will be sent out to them via email. If you have any concerns about this work or have not received any please contact the school. The email containing the school work has been sent from .

When students return to school a number of measures will be in place to ensure we remain vigilant while Ebola remains a threat. Staff have been instructed on how to deal with this issue and a number of additional health measures have been put in place.
With school opening on Monday 22nd September we would ideally like all students to have collected their texts books and school uniforms before that date. The school shop is open between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm Monday to Friday.
We would also like all Boarders to be back in school by 4:00 pm on Sunday 21st September, a meeting for new Boarders and their parents will be held at 2:00 pm in New Horizons the same afternoon. More details will be sent to Boarders shortly.
School will start with a general assembly at 8:00 am on Monday 22nd. At this meeting new students will be welcomed and allocated to classes and work will begin for Years 8-11 at the start of period 2 and for new Year 7 students at the start of period 3. Parents of new students are most welcome to attend this assembly and meet with the Principal afterwards.  In order to waste as little time as possible the whole school will start together this year rather than a staggered start as in previous years.
It has been a very long summer and the start of our school year has been disrupted and it is imperative that we get back to work as soon as possible. The class of 2014 produced a set of outstanding results at IGCSE based on work they had done over a number of years. If we are to maintain and build upon this high standard it is vital that students from Year 7 on wards are fully focused on their learning. I have used the following words many times before but the message remains the same, parents, teachers, friends can all help but when it comes to learning students must remember;
If it is to be it is up to me
I look forward to welcoming you all back to school for what I believe will be a very successful year for all associated with BIS.
With very best wishes
