BIS Principal's Newsletter 9th December 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is the final newsletter from BIS for 2016. Exams are over and we now approach the final week of term which as always promises to be very busy.

Public Holiday on Monday
In respect of the public holiday called to mark the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, please note that the school will be closed on Monday of next week (12th December). Lessons will resume again on Tuesday 13th December at 8.00 am.

Fun Day
Our PTA Fun Day took place on campus on Saturday of last week. It was a lively and enjoyable event, very well organised by our dedicated Executive Committee. Our thanks go to all who were involved in its organisation and all those who supported the event on the day. It was excellent.

School Production: Wednesday 14th December
Our Performing Arts staff and students have been working very hard since September in preparing for our end of term production - Idia, Warrior Princess.
It promises to be an exciting blend of dance, music and drama. Please come and support our students next Wednesday. The performance begins at 7.00 pm in New Horizons.

Christmas Discos and Mufti Day
As usual the students will celebrate the end of this term with celebratory discos. Timings are as follows:
Lower School                           1.30 pm - 4.00 pm
Upper School                           6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
Tickets will be on sale next week at 500 Naira. Please note that next Thursday will be a non-uniform day. A donation to charity of 500 Naira is needed from all those not wearing school uniform.

Report Issue and Parent Teacher Conference
We remind parents that end of term reports will be issued at our Parent Teacher Conference on Friday of next week (16th December). The conference holds in New Horizons from 8.00 am until 12.00 pm. This provides an excellent opportunity for one to one discussion with teachers, particularly in the light of the recent examinations. Students are very welcome to attend with their parents, but must wear school uniform on that day.

Motherless Babies' Home
Class 9V students have been busy collecting toys for donation to the motherless babies'home in Lekki. A group of them will be visiting the home next week to see the children and present the gifts to them. We are proud of them for taking this initiative.

Monday 9th January is a training day for staff. Students resume at 8.00 am on Tuesday 10th January.

With best wishes to all members of the BIS family for a pleasant holiday and safe travels.

Yours sincerely,
Howard Bullock.
