BIS Principal's Newsletter 17th October 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Cross Country, Football and Art
The past few days have been very busy at BIS. On Friday of last week we held our annual cross country race in aid of the cancer relief charity CS-DON. Our students ran well and we hope that a substantial sum has been raised through the sale of t-shirts. These are still on sale and we would encourage those who have not already bought them to do so.
On Saturday our football teams travelled to the Lekki Campus of Greensprings School for an AISEN football tournament. The boys came third in the competitions and the girls only narrowly missed a place in the semi-finals by one point.
We also took part in an AISEN Art competition held at Avi Cenna School, Ikeja. Around twenty five schools took part and I am pleased to announce that we are through to the next round.

Tag Rugby
We are delighted to announce that our tag rugby players were overall champions in the finals of the league held at Temple Schools on Saturday October 8th. The trophy will be presented to Mr Charles and the winning team on Thursday of this week at our celebration assembly for this half of the term. Congratulations to all involved.

This Week
Please note the following key events that are taking place this week.

This afternoon we will be holding an information session on our Sixth Form. It will take place in Room L4 at 2.45 pm and is particularly relevant to students and parents in Year 11.

On Wednesday our PTA will hold its AGM at 8.15 in Room L4. We look forward to seeing you there.

Also on Wednesday  we will be hosting a number of Canadian Schools and Universities in L4 at 2.35pm for students and parents in Years 10, 11 and 12.

On Friday we will hold our first parent/teacher conference of the year. This takes place in New Horizons between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm. Please note that there will be no lessons on this day. Students are very welcome to attend with their parents, but must wear school uniform. This conference provides an excellent opportunity for you to receive a clear picture of how your ward has worked during this first half of the term. Attainment and effort grades will be published and parents in Years 7-9 will also receive the CAT4 reports on their child.

Finally, I would like to wish all members of the BIS family a pleasant and relaxing half term break. School resumes for all at 8.00 am on Monday 31st October. Boarders should return during the afternoon of Sunday 30th.

Yours sincerely,

Howard Bullock.
