BIS Principal's Newsletter 14th March 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last weekend saw the final entrance examination for this term and we were pleased to welcome prospective Year 7 students and their families here on the school campus. We look forward to welcoming a large number of the students to BIS in September.

The end of this term is drawing closer now with the final day of the term being Wednesday 23rd March. Academic work is high on the agenda for all students, but most notably for Year 11 as they reach the final furlong of their IGCSE courses.

Year 9 IGCSE Options and Careers
This year we will be looking and these crucial issues in two stages. Next Tuesday (22nd March) will see an options information afternoon for Year 9 students and their parents with both presentations from senior staff as well as a chance to discuss IGCSE courses with individual departments. Early next term we will hold a careers afternoon where a number of outside speakers will talk to students about their particular careers and areas of work.
A separate letter concerning this has been sent both electronically and on paper to Year 9 parents today.

Frankfurt School of Finance and Management
Representatives from this institute of higher education will visit BIS next Monday (21st March). They will make a presentation to Year 10 and 11 students and any parents who wish to attend at 2.35 in Room L4.

Character Day
Please note that this Friday students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a specific character from the world of literature. A donation to charity of 500 Naira will be levied for this non-uniform event. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed students.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
We wish our Duke of Edinburgh Award participants well as they camp in the school grounds from the 18th to the 19th of March. We look forward to a full report next week.
With best wishes for a pleasant week,

Yours sincerely,

Howard Bullock.
